“Lila Yoga continues the warm and friendly tradition of its predecessor- Santosha Yoga. The space is light-filled, clean, and brimming with energy-both gentle and dynamic. My teachers are clearly committed to their own yoga practice as well as to their students, bringing classes that are inspiring, invigorating and always fresh. Their extensive, deep understanding of the postures and the body is apparent with the enlivened, concise guiding words that always move us, strengthen us, and calm us.” ~ Polly S.
Intro Series: This six-week series is the perfect place to begin if you are new to yoga or want to refresh/relearn the fundamental building blocks of hatha yoga practice. In this class there is an emphasis on alignment, building strength, pacing and breath. The teachers take special care to make sure students are moving safely and feel comfortable and welcomed in each class. This class prepares practitioners for Level I and All-Level classes.
Hatha: Hatha classes take time in each pose to develop a deeper understanding of them and encourages a slower mindful pace for the movement between them. Heat, strength and focus are balanced with gentle opening and letting go in the body. Hatha classes are perfect for the practitioner who prefers slow, steady practice and time to move slowly in and out of each posture.
Flow: Flow classes (also called Vinyasa) are Hatha classes with a focus on continuous movement matched with the breath. Built on the structure of the Sun Salutation, the flow class builds heat in the body and opening occurs due to repetition of postures within a flowing sequence. These classes are perfect for practitioners who like their yoga practice to feel like a dance. Over time, movement in the sequence becomes more fluid, the mind is able to relax and the practice becomes a moving meditation.
Early Morning Glow: Start your day with inner radiance ~ A complete work out emphasizing stretching, strengthening and inner awareness. The one hour class begins with pranayama (breath exercises) to open up the lungs and get our energy moving! Next, a series of floor poses to stretch and strengthen the core body and open the joints. A moderate level series of Sun salutation and Vinyasa sequences builds flexibility and strength. Ending with the glow of meditation and savasana!
Friday Fun Flow: What’s better than happy hour on Friday evenings? Friday Fun Flow! The perfect class to wring out the week, get into your body, sweat a little, have fun, restore, and walk out feeling “super fine.”
Viniyoga: A form of Hatha yoga where breath and mindfulness play a central role, guiding and inspiring each movement. Poses are explored through repetitions and stays, symmetry and asymmetry, as well as adaptations to suit your particular needs. Sequences are designed for safety, strength and flexibility in addition to restoration, relaxation, and meditation.
Viniyoga Flow: In a Viniyoga Flow class you will find the same elements of a traditional Viniyoga class with a series of sun salutation flows added into the standing portion of the sequence. The beauty of repeatedly moving through a series of sun salutations is that the whole body-mind becomes integrated with the breath and the body becomes alive with energy. Over time, the flow sequence becomes more fluid, the mind is able to relax and the practice becomes a moving meditation.
Relax and Restore: This class uses props, gentle and restorative postures, pranayama and meditation to relax the body and quiet the mind. It is perfect for students of all ages and abilities including those healing from injury. Supported postures are held for several minutes allowing the body to release tension completely and giving the mind ample time to slow down and let go.
Gentle Evening Flow: An exploration of basic yoga postures connecting them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. Therapeutic in nature, you will build flexibility, while immersing yourself in a relaxing class that moves at a perfectly slower pace – allowing ample time to enjoy each pose. Expect lots of deep stretching and lingering floor poses. Meditation and relaxation techniques will also be introduced, perfect for stress relief and overall wellbeing. All levels welcome.
Honey Flow Yoga: Perhaps you need a little mid week rejuvenation to calm the mind and cleanse the palette of the challenges, stresses, and successes already accumulated. A delicious dose of slow flow asana followed by a sequence of gentle stretching and restorative poses. This class is just the thing to bring balance to your mind and body and reconnect you to your highest Self.
Prenatal: This class is for all mothers to be. No previous yoga experience is required. Read more detailed information on our Prenatal Classes.
Postnatal: Postnatal Yoga does not require any experience, and you can start anytime that you feel ready. Lila Yoga provides a calm and soothing space for you to spend time reconnecting with your mind and body. See more detailed information about our Postnatal Classes.
Guided Meditation: Appropriate for beginners and experienced meditators, this weekly sit led by LDL, Ellen McCown, includes meditation instruction (as needed), a theme for reflection, walking meditation and opportunity for questions and discussion about the meditation experience. The style of meditation is ‘vipassana’ a Pali term that translates “seeing clearly into reality”.
There is no charge for the class, donations are accepted by both Lila Yoga Studio for its costs and the teacher in the spirit of generosity dana.
